Ingredients

In the South we make this prasad with all equal measurements.

  • 1 cup Suji (semolina)
  • 1 cup Almond powder (optional)
  • 1 cup Banana mashed
  • 1 cup Ghee (clarified butter)
  • 1 cup Sugar (if adding Almond powder increase sugar accordingly)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 20 cashew nuts chopped
  • 20 Raisins
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom powder (green)

Directions

  • Melt 2 tablespoons of ghee in a pan on low heat.
  • Roast suji until you get a nice aroma.
  • Simultaneously, boil water and milk in two different pans.
  • Add boiling water to the roasted suji.
  • Add sugar and keep stirring.
  • When it thickens a little, add boiling milk.
  • Add mashed banana and keep stirring (if adding almond powder – add this).
  • Add the rest of the ghee, except for 2 tablespoons.
  • Keep stirring until it looks like halva and leaves the sides of the pan.
  • Turn off the heat.
  • Roast cashew nuts and raisins and add them to the halva.
  • Add the cardamom powder and stir.
