Mutter Paneer
Ingredients
- 1 cup green peas
- 1 cup paneer cut into pieces, soaked and roasted
- 1 onion minced
- 6 cloves garlic minced
- 1 inch ginger grated
- 3 tomatoes chopped
- 2 tablespoons oil or ghee
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- ½ teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- ¼ teaspoon chili powder
- ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
- 10 whole cashews
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper powder
- 1 bay leaf
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon powder
- ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
- Salt to taste
- 1 tablespoon plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons cilantro to garnish
Directions
- In a sauce pan heat 2 tablespoons of ghee, add cumin seeds, let it splutter.
- Add onion and garlic, roast until they are translucent.
- Add tomatoes and keep stirring until the raw smell is no longer there.
- Stir in turmeric powder, ginger and cashews, cook for 5 minutes.
- Let the mixture cool and blend until smooth or use the hand held blender to puree it.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of ghee in a pan, add bay leaf and the onion, tomato puree.
- Fold in chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala, cumin powder, black pepper powder, cinnamon powder and salt.
- Whisk in yogurt, stir until it mixes well.
- If needed, add water and let it come to a boil.
- Fold in the paneer cubes and green peas and cook until the peas is done.
- Garnish with cilantro.
