Urad Sabudana Uttapam
Ingredients
- 1 cup urad dal
- 1 cup sabudana
- 1 inch ginger, ground to paste
- 2 green chilies
- ½ teaspoon methi seeds
- ½ cup of vegetables
- ½ onion, minced (optional)
- 1 tomato, cut to pieces
- Salt to taste
Directions
- Wash and soak urad dal in a bowl with hot water.
- Wash and soak sabudana in a separate bowl in hot water.
- After 4 hours check the urad dal has soaked appropriately, grind to a fine paste with water. Shut the grinder and keep stirring the urad dal paste to let the air in. This will be similar to the dosa dough.
- Add methi seeds, green chilies and ginger, grind all together.
- Remove the water from sabudana, add this to the ground urad.
- Mix well and let it stand for 15 minutes. (can let it ferment overnight).
- The dough is ready to make uttapam.
- Heat “tawa”, spoon 1 ladle of dough, sprinkle vegetables or just onions and tomatoes.
- Cook on both sides on low heat. This dough takes slightly longer to cook.
- Serve with chutney etc.
